Bust of Christ

Panel
25,5 x 21 cm
Inv.nr. 94-1946, Cat. nr. 135

There was never any doubt that this was a genuine Rembrandt, however the Rembrandt Research Project wrote in 1973: It's for the time being not accepted as authentic.
The picture represents a new type of Christ, which Rembrandt would use for instance in his "Men of Emmaus" now in the Louvre and in Copenhagen. Also it is related to the Christ-figure in the "Hundred guilder print"

Erection of the cross

Panel
Dated: 1645 ?
39 x 30 cm
Inv.nr. 95-1946, Cat. nr. 136

Style of Rembrandt.
Bredius bought the painting because he was very much struck by its beauty and had no doubt at all that it was a genuine Rembrandt.
